impact of plant based leather on environment with leather in water
Impact & sustainability
Our Plant Skin Collection is a true product of the community. Besides working closely with many small companies, we give residue plant matter left over from alcohol production a new life, instead of throwing it away.
The impact of leather
Let's delve into the leather conversation, shall we? While it exudes timeless appeal, its ecological footprint is far from ideal. Picture this: cows, cows, and more cows.
Did you know that a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions stems from livestock? It's akin to a nation's annual emissions! And here's the kicker: over a third of our precious habitable land is dedicated to these animals. That's a considerable chunk of real estate for our four-legged friends, wouldn't you agree?
But wait, there's more. The majority of deforestation in South America? You guessed it—cattle ranching is a major driver. But fear not, sustainability advocates, because we're pioneering a shift with our leather alternative treasures. It's time to make a stylish statement while reducing our environmental impact!

Beyond brewing
Our Plant Skin Collection is a product of the community. Most of the time, residue from beer brewing is disposed of. Repurposing it is not unheard of, but it does happen quite rarely. Why not use it and give it a new life?
Choosing Beer Skin™ for your product is more than just a great aesthetic and design decision. It’s choosing the solution and not the problem.
Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) accounts for approx. 85 % of all residues produced by the brewing industry, with only 10% being used as animal feed.
MATERIAL RESULTS
Our material has approximately 50% less negative impact on the environment than current fossil-fuel based leathers. This is largely thanks to its local sourcing, processing and production chain
PLANT BASED
Due to the undoubtedly innovative nature of its production process, companies and designers that incorporate Beer Skin™ into their array of chosen materials are offered the additional option of highlighting its unique origin for marketing purposes.
